A new era of Banjo

Life update: I have switched jobs and now will hopefully have more time to update this site.
Blog update: I have decided to broaden Solitary Analog’s purview. Moving forward I will still try to play N64 games and report back on them, but I will also be writing about general developments in N64 culture. It seems that the N64-era is coming into vogue these days, more people replaying the games, appreciating the aesthetic, etc.
For this update, I will share that Rare recently released the “Rare Replay” collection for the Xbox One, which includes 7 of Rare’s N64 games. If you, like me, do not own an Xbone, you can live vicariously by watching the excellent Danielle Riendeau (of Polygon and the Idle Thumbs podcast) attempt a 100% run of Banjo-Kazooie here.
For the past 6 months, I have been meaning to report back on my trip to a mysterious used game store in San Jose and my experience trying to play Shadows of the Empire on “Normal” and fighting my fiancee in Xena: Warrior Princess: The Talisman of Fate, but those stories will need to wait for another day.
